What happens
Fiona Gaylord, a proud heir, refuses to sell the family mansion or settle a long-running dispute over her father's will. Her sisters Evelyn and Susanna stand with her, while the estate's fortune has dwindled after 23 years of litigation. Charles Barkley, who funds the opposing charity's lawyer, wants the house to build a new development. Fiona's attorney Herschel Gibbon is dismissed after a courtroom outburst, and the sisters hire Padlock as their new counsel. A young boy named Austin lives in the house, and his connection to the household is becoming a source of tension. This is the Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of The Gay Sisters, starring Barbara Stanwick and Robert Young, broadcast on November 23, 1942.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
