What happens

Hildy Johnson, a Chicago newspaperman, has quit his job so he can marry Peggy Grant and leave for New York with her. The Lux Radio Theatre presents this adaptation of The Front Page, starring Walter Winchell and Josephine Hutchinson, with James Gleason as Walter Burns. The broadcast was aired on June 28, 1937. The story follows the press room's scramble over the execution and the money Hildy has promised to Jacoby for an exclusive story, while Peggy grows increasingly anxious about the wedding.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
