What happens
Father Duffy, Jerry Plunkett and Wild Bill Donovan are members of the 69th New York regiment during the First World War. Recruits arrive at Camp Mills, where Major Donovan swears them in and drills them hard. Plunkett, a brash rookie who joins under a false name, clashes with the sergeants and the other men, and a brawl breaks out between the Irish and Alabama soldiers. The regiment is merged into the rainbow division as the men prepare to go overseas. The story is adapted from the 1942 Lux Radio Theatre broadcast of April 6, 1942, starring Pat O'Brien, Robert Preston and Ralph Bellamy.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
