What happens
Jeff Young and Al Ludlow are cadets at Randolph Field, training to become Army Air Corps pilots. Jeff is a former college football star, while Al, a former mechanic, is haunted by a bitter breakup and fears he will fail. The two men grow close as they struggle through flight instruction, the pressure of washing out, and their own private doubts. The Lux Radio Theatre presents this dramatization of the 1942 film I Wanted Wings, a story based on the experiences of Army Air Corps cadets, first broadcast on March 30, 1942, with Ray Milland, William Holden and Veronica Lake starring.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
