What happens

Glenn Morley, a congressman, celebrates his re-election with newspaper friends at his mother's house, where Katie Holstun has been hired as a maid for the day. Katie explains that she needs money to train as a nurse and describes her farm upbringing. Glenn is drawn to her plainspoken candor as the household's routines and political rivalries unfold. The Lux Radio Theatre presents Loretta Young and Joseph Cotton in this comedy, broadcast in January 1948. Their conversations mix romance with talk of voting, wages and politics, and the household's concerns about the upcoming election keep pulling them back into public life.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
