What happens
Bob and Betty, a newly married couple, leave Seattle after the war to start a chicken farm in the mountains. They move onto a dilapidated property, where the house leaks, the stove is odd and the land proves hard to manage. Bob is confident in his plans, while Betty struggles with the chickens and the rough conditions. Their neighbors, Tom and Ma Kettle, and the glamorous Harriet Putnam, a nearby farm owner, appear as the couple tries to settle in. This is the Lux Radio Theatre production of The Egg and I, first broadcast on May 5, 1947, starring Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
