What happens
Johnny O'Clock, a New York gambling-house operator, is approached by Inspector Koch, who wants his help in tracking down the policeman Chuck Bladen. Johnny's former lover Harriet Hobson is involved with Bladen, and when she is found dead of gas poisoning, Johnny is pulled deeper into the affair. Johnny's partner Guido Marchetti, his wife Nell, and Harriet's sister Nancy Hobson all have connections to the case. The play is an adaptation of Columbia Pictures' 1947 film Johnny O'Clock, presented on the Lux Radio Theatre, with Dick Powell and Marguerite Chapman as the leads. This broadcast aired on 1947-05-12.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
