What happens
Tim Sterling, a doctor, finds himself in an embarrassing situation after a chance car ride with June Cameron, a young author whose bestseller tells women not to marry. Newspapers report that the two have wed, and June, hoping to keep her fame intact, asks Tim to play along. Lux Radio Theatre presents this comedy, first broadcast on December 8, 1941, starring Melvin Douglas as Tim and Virginia Bruce as June. Tim refuses, but the rumor spreads, and he soon finds his professional standing affected by the false marriage. The episode closes with Tim still caught between his denials and the public's assumption.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
