What happens
Wallace Beery stars as Andy, a washed-up former prizefighter living in the border town of Tijuana with his young son Dink, played by Bobby Larson. Dink follows his father's fortunes through the town's bars and gambling halls, watching the champ try to stage a comeback fight for money. Andy's old friends and managers, Sponge and Jim, pressure him as he struggles with his drinking and his pride. Dink is a loyal companion who believes in his father's greatness. The broadcast, part of the Lux Radio Theatre series, aired on November 13, 1939, and its cast also includes Josephine Hutchinson as Linda, Andy's former wife, who reappears in the boy's life. The story follows the father and son's shared struggles and the question of what is best for the boy.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
