What happens

Louise Mason, a nurse, is hired by the widower Fred Begley to care for his infant son, Freddie. Over the years she moves between households and jobs, forming close bonds with the children she tends and turning down a marriage proposal from her employer. Her friendship with Frank Hutchinson, who runs a toy shop, runs through the story. Lux Radio Theatre presents this 1952 adaptation of the RKO drama The Blue Veil, starring Jane Wyman, who received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in the film. The broadcast's original air date was November 24, 1952.

Early twentieth-century United States, in Hollywood studio production form, with scenes in a city household, a park, a toy shop, a country estate in Connecticut and a theatrical family's home.

Listen for: Louise's gentle manner with children and her repeated decisions to leave her posts for the sake of those she cares for.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
