What happens

Kenneth White, a submarine executive officer, sees his ship the USS Tiger Shark return from the war in 1945 after his captain, Josh Rice, was killed on deck during a final attack. Over the next years White serves as a maintenance officer at Mare Island while Carol, his wife, pursues her advertising career in San Francisco. Friends and family weigh in on his guilt over the decision he made that day, and on his restlessness in peacetime. The Lux Radio Theatre series presents this drama, starring William Holden and Alexis Smith, and this portion of the broadcast ends in the middle of a strained evening at a party.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
