What happens
Alan Quatermain is a veteran African guide who has refused to lead expeditions into unexplored territory. Beth Curtis and her brother Jack travel from England to hire him, seeking Beth's husband Henry, who vanished while searching for King Solomon's mines. Quatermain at first turns them down, but accepts a large sum of money and sets out with them into the jungle. The party faces wild animals, a difficult river crossing and hostile terrain, and tensions grow between Quatermain and Beth. This is an adaptation of the Lux Radio Theatre broadcast of December 1, 1952, starring Deborah Carr and Stuart Granger. The episode is presented as part one of two, with the story continuing beyond this point.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
