What happens

Jim Fallon, a tough lumberman, arrives in Redwood, California, after learning that a new law has opened the giant redwood timberlands to fresh claims. He sends his loyal but simple helper Yukon ahead to spread his name, while the colonists led by Mr. Bixby, whose daughter Alicia becomes Fallon's close acquaintance, hold to a deep reverence for the ancient trees. Fallon's dealings with the settlers and the local land agent grow tense as the homesteaders resist his plans. The story is taken from the Lux Radio Theatre, first broadcast on November 2, 1954, with Van Heflin and Nancy Gates in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
