What happens

Bernadette Soubirous, a sickly young peasant girl in the town of Lourdes, southern France, says she sees a beautiful lady at the Massabielle cave. Her family is poor and her father is out of work, and the town's officials quickly grow alarmed as crowds gather at the cave. The Lux Radio Theatre production stars Anne Blythe as Bernadette and Charles Bickford, who reprises his screen role, and is adapted from Franz Werfel's novel. The story follows Bernadette as her family, the town's mayor, the imperial prosecutor, the police commissioner, a doctor and the local priest each respond to her claims.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
