What happens

Leona Stevenson, an invalid confined to her bed in New York, overhears a murder plot over a crossed telephone line while her husband Henry is away. Barbara Stanwick plays Leona and Bert Lancaster plays Henry in this Lux Radio Theatre production of Sorry Wrong Number, a radio drama later adapted into a Paramount film. Leona tries to trace the call and pieces together the conversation, which she connects to her husband's whereabouts and his past. Her attempts to reach him and understand his connection to the sinister events lead her to question everything she knows about her marriage. The broadcast reflects the wealthy, strained household in which Leona and Henry live, and the tension of her growing fear.

New York City, in a tangled urban telephone network and an apartment, with flashbacks to Chicago and Lake Forest, Illinois

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
