What happens

Lynn Belvedere, a self-proclaimed genius, arrives at the King household in a sleepy suburb after Harry and Tacey King advertise for a resident sitter and Belvedere answers. Harry, a young lawyer, and Tacey are overwhelmed by their three noisy sons and their dog, and Belvedere's unconventional methods quickly win over the children and the dog. Neighbor Clarence Appleton, a busybody who tends his irises, keeps a close eye on the household's comings and goings. This Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the 1948 20th Century Fox comedy Sitting Pretty aired on February 14, 1949, starring Clifton Webb, Robert Young and Maureen O'Hara.

A typical suburban community, the King family's home and its neighborhood, in Hollywood's 1940s comedy style.

Characters: Lynn Belvedere, Harry King, Tacey King, Clarence Appleton, Larry, Tony, Roddy, Henry

Listen for: Belvedere's dry, cutting remarks to the Kings and the neighbors, and his unusual methods with the children and the dog.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
