What happens

Jean Cordell, an FBI agent, goes undercover in Santa City to find the gang behind a series of murders and a bank robbery. Posing as a petty crook named George Manley, he works his way into the skid row world around Doc Street, where a fighter named Robert Danker was recently framed for a killing at the Meadowbrook Club. Cordell's contact is Sy Gordon, who relays messages to Inspector Briggs in Washington, and the two agents suspect a local gang led by Alex Styles. Corruption may reach into the police department, where someone seems to be passing on records to the gang. Cordell gets close to the gang's inner circle as a planned holdup approaches. The Lux Radio Theatre presented this adaptation of the 20th Century Fox film on January 31, 1949, starring Mark Stevens, Richard Widmark and Lloyd Nolan.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
