What happens

Gagan arrives in the New Mexico town of San Pablo during fiesta week, looking for a hotel room and for Frank Hugo, a man connected to the death of his friend Shorty Thompson. A government agent named Uncle Sam warns him off, while Gagan drifts with a carnival worker named Pancho and befriends a young Mexican girl named Pila. Gagan confronts Hugo, who learns that Gagan holds a cancelled check that could be used against him, and the two agree to a payment. Hugo's companion Miss Lundeen then approaches Gagan with a proposal of her own. The episode is a radio adaptation of the 1947 Universal International film Ride the Pink Horse, with Robert Montgomery, Wanda Hendricks and Thomas Gomez starring.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
