What happens

Larry Smith, a public opinion pollster whose business has collapsed, travels to the small town of Grandview, which he believes is a perfect miniature of the nation. Posing as an insurance agent with his assistant Mr. Twiddle, he quietly gathers information from the townspeople. He soon becomes involved with the local high school basketball team and with Mary Peterman, the acting editor of the town newspaper, who feels strongly about the town's future. This Lux Radio Theatre broadcast of December 15, 1947 stars James Stewart and Jane Wyman in the title roles of the story based on the film Magic Town.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
