What happens
Doris Walker and her daughter Susan are invited to Thanksgiving dinner by their neighbor Fred Gailie after Doris's store, Macy's, hires an elderly man named Chris Kringle to play Santa Claus in its parade. Chris does well as Santa, but Doris worries that he insists he is the real Santa Claus, and her skeptical daughter Susan refuses to believe in him at all. The transcript covers the first part of the story, in which Chris's sincere help to shoppers and the store's new policy of directing customers to rival stores begin to change the business in unexpected ways. The broadcast is a Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the 1947 film, presented live on December 22, 1947, with Maureen O'Hara, John Payne, Edmund Gwenn and Natalie Wood in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
