What happens
Lee Leander, a young woman accused of stealing a $5,000 diamond bracelet from a Fifth Avenue jewelry store, faces prosecution by assistant district attorney Jack Sergeant. Her lawyer argues she was hypnotized, and the trial is postponed until after Christmas. Jack, eager to go home for the holiday, is persuaded to take Lee with him on the long drive west to Eltonville, Indiana. The Lux Radio Theatre presents this 1941 adaptation of the Paramount film, broadcast on December 22, 1941, with Gene Arthur and Fred MacMurray in the leads. Lee's visit to her former home brings back painful memories of her strained relationship with her mother, and the two of them slowly grow closer as Christmas approaches.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
