What happens

Larry Darrow, a restless young veteran, is engaged to Isabel Bradley, and the two are moving through a Chicago society party given by Elliot Templeton, an older man who has a sophisticated view of the world. Larry is unwilling to take the conventional path of a steady job and money, and tensions with Isabel grow as he struggles to find meaning in life. The episode is a radio adaptation of W. Somerset Maugham's novel The Razor's Edge, presented on the Lux Radio Theatre in 1948 and starring Ida Lupino and Mark Stevens. The episode recording is taken from the broadcast of October 18, 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
