What happens

Tom Owens, a young stage line employee, and Denny Holt, a woman traveling with her infant niece, are held hostage at the lonely relay station at Rawhide, New Mexico, by an escaped criminal named Zimmerman and his companions. The station sits on the Jackass Mail route in the 1800s, a dangerous stretch of the frontier where road agents and hostile Indians threaten travelers. The outlaws are waiting for a stagecoach carrying a shipment of gold bars, and Tom and Denny must decide how to survive the night and warn the arriving driver. Lux Radio Theatre presented this adaptation of Rawhide on March 22, 1955, starring Dorothy McGuire and Jeffrey Hunter.

Listen for: Listen for the tension as Tom and Denny plot to warn the stagecoach driver while the outlaws watch their every move.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
