What happens
Charles Rainier, a shell-shocked veteran with no memory of his past, is found wandering after the armistice and cared for by Paula Ridgeway, a music hall performer who takes him away from the asylum and helps him start a new life. Under the name Smithy, he begins writing, and the two marry and have a son. A lapse of memory later sends Charles back to his former identity and a different life, leaving Paula to face a difficult choice. This is the Lux Radio Theatre production of Random Harvest, broadcast on 19 April 1948 and starring Ronald Colman and Greer Garson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
