What happens

Geppetto, an old woodcarver, makes a wooden puppet named Pinocchio, and a Blue Fairy brings the puppet to life as a real boy who must prove himself brave, truthful and unselfish. Jiminy Cricket is appointed as his conscience and acts as his guide through temptations. Pinocchio sets out for school, but he is drawn toward the theater and meets two swindlers, Honest John and Gideon, who see profit in his lively wooden body. The episode is a radio adaptation of Walt Disney's animated feature Pinocchio, presented on the Lux Radio Theatre as a Christmas night broadcast on December 25, 1939. The story here follows Pinocchio's first temptations and his struggle to choose between right and wrong.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
