What happens
Adam Kemp, a music teacher on Long Island, is the proud father of four grown daughters: Emma, Kay, Thea and Anne. Their quiet household is upended when Thea receives orchids from Benjamin Crawley, a wealthy suitor she has just met, and the sisters begin to weigh their views on love and marriage. Meanwhile a young, brash musician named Felix Deitz arrives after swinging on the family gate and soon wins a place in the house. The sisters' differing hopes about romance and independence come into focus as the first part of the story unfolds. This is the Lux Radio Theatre's 1939 adaptation of Four Daughters, broadcast on December 18, 1939, starring John Garfield and Jeffrey Lynn, with Priscilla, Rosemary and Lola Lane and Leota Lane as the sisters.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
