What happens
Julie Eden, a commercial artist raising her young daughter, meets Alec Warren, a married man, by a stream in Connecticut, and the two form an unlikely friendship. Alec's wife, Maida, is cold and insincere, and her suspicion grows when she learns Julie was with Alec on the night of his accident. This Lux Radio Theatre production, first broadcast on December 11, 1939, stars Cary Grant, Carole Lombard and Kay Francis. The transcript covers only the first two acts, in which Maida confronts her husband and his family, and Julie finds herself caught between them.
Connecticut countryside and the Warren family home, late 1930s

Listen for: The tense confrontation between Alec and Maida, and the moment Julie learns of the accident and the family's hostility
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
