What happens

Roger and Julie Adams, a newspaper reporter and his wife, have drifted apart after years of marriage, and Julie leaves him in a parked car on a small town's main street. Julie, with the help of Applejack, the loyal man at the newspaper, reflects on how she and Roger met and the happier days that followed. The story is told through the couple's memories, their early years in the marriage, and their later hopes for a child. This episode is part of Lux Radio Theatre, first broadcast on May 8, 1944, and stars Irene Dunne and Joseph Cotton, with Edgar Buchanan.

A small town, a record shop, a train, a newspaper office, and an adoption agency in the Hollywood radio drama tradition.

Listen for: Julie's memories of her early years with Roger, and the couple's conversations about adopting a child.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
