What happens
David Ramsey and his wife Joyce face strain in their San Francisco marriage as David tells her he wants to end it. The story looks back to their early years, when David was a struggling small-town lawyer and Joyce supported him. Their friend Robert Townsend shares the practice, and the couple's rising fortunes bring new tensions. The Lux Radio Theatre production, first broadcast on September 3, 1951, stars Betty Davis as Joyce and Barry Sullivan as David. This guide covers only the early part of the broadcast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
