What happens

Humphrey, a vain stage butler in a failing provincial theatre company, is offered work by a young Earl, who invites the troupe to play the role of his family for an American heiress, Agatha Flood, and her mother. Humphrey insists on joining the household as a butler, where his pretensions and clumsiness cause trouble among the guests. Lucille Ball plays Aggie. This is a 1951 Lux Radio Theatre adaptation, broadcast on September 10, 1951, starring Bob Hope and Lucille Ball, of the Paramount film Fancy Pants.

An English provincial theatre, then a country estate in England, and later Big Squaw, New Mexico Territory.

Characters: Humphrey, Aggie, Mrs. Flood, Earl of Brinsted, Cart Belnap, Pa Flood, Lady Margaret

Listen for: Humphrey's exaggerated tales of his travels and medals, and the escalating comic mishaps in the Flood household.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
