What happens

Our Town is a Lux Radio Theatre production, broadcast on May 6, 1940, starring Frank Craven, William Holden and Martha Scott. The story begins in Grover's Corners, a small New Hampshire town, where the narrator Newton Morgan describes the town's layout and people. Doctor Gibbs and Mrs. Gibbs live beside Mr. and Mrs. Webb, and their children George and Emily grow up together. Emily is clever and eager to be noticed, while George is more interested in baseball. Their friendship deepens over a late-night conversation through their bedroom windows, and in the following act the two prepare for marriage. Tonight's episode lays out their daily lives and early feelings for one another.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
