What happens

Elizabeth, a painter who has lived in Santa Fe for ten years, longs to return home. She travels east to join her scattered family at the lake lodge in Minnesota for one last September together. Her brother Bud, sister Edie, and father are all there, and their reunion brings old memories and new tensions. Elizabeth soon finds that the family's warm recollections of the lodge do not quite match the place she finds. Sharp words and small irritations stir up the old rivalries, and the family begins to pull against itself. This episode of Lux Radio Theatre, aired August 31, 1953, stars Claire Trevor as Elizabeth.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
