What happens

Ruth and Eileen Sherwood, two sisters from Columbus, Ohio, search for an apartment in New York City's Greenwich Village. They take a basement flat from a persuasive landlord, Mr. Appopolous, only to find it noisy from subway blasting and tangled in odd neighbors. Ruth, an aspiring writer, tries to place a manuscript with a magazine publisher, while Eileen attracts attention with her looks. The sisters' new home soon fills with unexpected guests and misunderstandings. The story is told in the Lux Radio Theatre's 1943 production, first broadcast on July 5, 1943, with Rosalind Russell, Brian Aherne and Janet Blair in the leads.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
