What happens
Mary Colbrook, a widow in the Massachusetts town of Colbrook, faces mounting debts while raising her four children. Her credit has been cut off at the local shops, and the family's piano is nearly repossessed. Her eldest son Reggie, her daughter Muriel and young Gwen grow anxious about money, and the household strains under the pressure. Mary turns to her old acquaintance John Rudland at the bank, while her ten-year-old son Bill befriends a lonely neighbor, Mrs. Crosby. The family's troubles deepen as tensions rise between Mary and her children. This is the first act of the Lux Radio Theatre production of My Bill, broadcast on March 3, 1941, starring Kay Francis and Warren William.
The quiet town of Colbrook, Massachusetts, in an old frame house on Colbrook Avenue

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
