What happens

Sergeant Mike Flanagan of the North West Mounted Police meets Catherine, a young woman newly arrived from Boston at her uncle John's ranch in western Canada. Mike is drawn to her, and after a dance and a proposal scene in the ranch house, Kathy agrees to marry him. The transcript follows their life after the wedding, as Kathy adjusts to the harsh northern country, to the isolated outposts they are posted to, and to the frontier demands placed on Mike, including vaccinating local Indians against smallpox. This Lux Radio Theatre drama, first broadcast on April 24, 1950, is staged with the leads playing Mike and Kathy.

Western Canada, around forty years earlier, moving from a ranch near McGregor's place to remote northwest frontier posts such as Hendrix Hope and Fort Manette

Characters: Sergeant Mike Flanagan, Kathy Flanagan, John, Danny, Mrs. Howard, Henry Howard, Mrs. Henderson, Chief Iron Eye

Listen for: Kathy's growing fear of the frontier and Mike's efforts to reassure her, especially the broken cup scene at the Howards' cabin and the tooth extraction

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
