What happens
Eve Peabody, a penniless American in an evening gown, hires taxi driver Tibor Czerny to drive her around Paris in the rain while she looks for work. Their night of wandering ends with Eve reinventing herself as a Hungarian baroness among Parisian society, where she is drawn into a bridge game and meets the wealthy George Flamerian. Claudette Colbert and Don Ameche star in this 1940 Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the Paramount film Midnight, broadcast May 20, 1940. The story follows Eve's masquerade as it grows more tangled.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
