What happens
Mary Stewart returns to Scotland from France to take up her throne, and the Earl of Bothwell, a soldier loyal to her, becomes her closest adviser. John Knox, the outspoken minister, openly distrusts the young queen and her Catholic ways. Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth of England, jealous of Mary's claim to the English throne, plots against her through her ambassador, Lord Throckmorton. Lord Darnley, a vain and handsome courtier, presses his favor with Mary, and the Scottish court becomes entangled in lies and intrigue. The episode is a broadcast of the Lux Radio Theatre, with Joan Crawford as Mary and Fredric March's counterpart Franchot Tone as Bothwell, and Judith Anderson as Elizabeth, first aired on May 10, 1937.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
