What happens

Stella Hallam, a young sculptor, is married to Vicki Hallam, who has a large and closely knit family that meets every Monday night at their mother's home. Stella feels unwelcome among Vicki's brothers and their wives, and her frustration grows as Vicki seems less interested in her work. Her nephew Jerry, who longs to study architecture against his family's wishes, confides in her and begins to lean on her for support. Lux Radio Theatre presents Another Language, first broadcast on May 17, 1937, starring Betty Davis and Fred McMurray with John Beal and Mae Robson in the supporting cast.

Downtown New York City, in the Hallam family's apartment and at their mother's home, with a later meeting at a hotel.

Characters: Stella Hallam, Vicki Hallam, Mother Hallam, Walter, Grace, Paul, Etta, Jerry

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
