What happens
Wilbur Todd, a mild office clerk, is pushed by his wife Mama to assert himself, which leads him to dress in a high silk hat and a morning coat for work. An offhand excuse about a funeral, and a scuffle in a park, bring him mistakenly before a crowd as the new Park Commissioner, and he must try to keep up the pretense. The story is from the Lux Radio Theatre series, and this episode first aired on April 8, 1940, with Fibber McGee and Molly starring in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
