What happens

Alan Quentin, a man haunted by a wartime friend's letters to a woman named Victoria Moreland, travels to the English countryside to find her. In the village of Meadow Farm he meets Victoria, who lives quietly and has no memory of her past. Alan begins to suspect that the death of her husband, Roger Moreland, was not what it seemed. The Lux Radio Theatre production of Love Letters, starring Joseph Cotton and Loretta Young, was broadcast on April 22, 1946. The transcript breaks off partway through the story.

A fog-bound city and then the English countryside, including Meadow Farm and a nearby railway station, some time after the end of the Second World War.

Characters: Alan Quentin, Victoria Moreland, Roger Moreland, Dilly Carson, Max, Dr. Pidey

Listen for: Alan's growing doubts about Roger Moreland's death and Victoria's fragile memory, as her past is slowly revealed.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
