What happens

Terry McKay and Michelle Marnay meet aboard the liner Empress, where Michelle, a famous playboy, flirts with Terry, a singer returning to New York. Their shipboard romance grows as they visit Terry's grandmother in Madeira, and Michelle's own grandmother gives them her blessing. Both have fiancés waiting in New York, and Terry feels torn between them. The Lux Radio Theatre production stars Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer in this romantic drama of a love affair that begins at sea. The story is adapted from the 1942 RKO film Love Affair, broadcast on July 6, 1942. Michelle and Terry agree to wait six months before deciding their future, and a meeting is arranged for July first at the top of the Empire State Building.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
