What happens
Little Women follows the four March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, through a winter in Concord while their father is away at war. Meg takes a job as a governess, and the family gives their Christmas breakfast to the struggling Hummel household. Their new neighbour, the young Laurie Lawrence, and his friend John Brooke become part of their lives, and the sisters are invited to a grand party at the Lawrence house. This Lux Radio Theatre production is based on the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film and was broadcast on March 13, 1950, starring June Allyson, Peter Lawford, Margaret O'Brien and Janet Leigh.
Concord, during the winter of 1864, while the Civil War is being fought
Characters: Meg March, Jo March, Beth March, Amy March, Marmee, Laurie, Mr. Lawrence, John Brooke
Listen for: Jo's wish to become a famous writer, and the family's Christmas breakfast given to the Hummels
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
