What happens
Violinist Holger Brandt returns home to Stockholm after a final concert tour with his accompanist Thomas Stenborg, who retires. Holger reunites with his wife Margaret and their children, and Anita Hoffman becomes the piano teacher of his daughter Anne-Marie. Anita is drawn to Holger, who is pulled between his family life and his restless love of performing. Joseph Cotton plays Holger and Ingrid Bergman plays Anita in this Lux Radio Theatre production, broadcast on June 4, 1945. The story turns on their growing attachment as Holger weighs his responsibilities against the pull of Anita's company, and the broadcast ends before the outcome of that conflict is settled.
New York City's Carnegie Hall, then the Brandt family home in Stockholm, Sweden, and a cafe and streets of the city.

Listen for: The conversations between Holger and Anita as their relationship deepens, and Holger's struggle between his home life and his music.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
