What happens

Hard Mitchell, a Maine lobsterman, and Anne Freeman, a young woman who has recently broken off their engagement, are drawn back together when the state welfare department places Donnie, a troubled orphaned boy, in the care of Mary McKay in their fishing village. Donnie is quiet and wary, and his past includes several runaways from earlier placements. Mary is hard to win over, and Hard finds that Donnie is the nephew of a fisherman he once knew. Hard takes the boy out on his boat, which causes friction with Anne, who worries about the dangers of the sea. The story is part of the Lux Radio Theatre series, and this performance starred Dana Andrews and Donna Reed.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
