Eddie Johnson arrives at Coney Island to collect on a debt from Joe Rocco, owner of the Scenic Gardens cafe, and the two men, once partners in a carnival, quarrel over a lost poker hand. Eddie later sets up a rival attraction, and Joe's men begin wrecking the business, which pushes both men toward a bitter rivalry. The episode, part of the Lux Radio Theatre series and based on the 20th Century Fox musical, is broadcast on September 30, 1946, and features Betty Grable, Victor Mature and Barry Sullivan in the leading roles. Kate Farley, the cafe's singer, becomes caught between the two men's schemes as the story develops.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
