What happens
Bill Weatherly, a stage director, and his wife Julie, an actress, are preparing a new play when Julie suffers a heart attack. Her doctor, Jim Miller, urges her to rest. At a beach near the hotel, Julie meets a lonely little girl named Hiddy, who believes the world is full of magic, and the two are drawn together. Julie and Bill decide to adopt her, and Hiddy begins to fill their home. Yet Julie's health continues to decline, and she must weigh her love for Hiddy against the strain it places on her marriage. The story is told in the Lux Radio Theatre's adaptation of the 20th Century Fox film Sentimental Journey, with John Payne and Lynn Barrie in the leading roles. The broadcast first aired on September 23, 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
