What happens
Eddie Johnson returns to Coney Island to confront Joe Rocco, his former partner, who cheated him out of their carnival years earlier. Eddie sets up a rival sideshow across the street from Joe's Scenic Gardens Cafe, and a feud breaks out between them. Joe's singer, Katie Farley, becomes caught up in the rivalry as Eddie tries to reshape the cafe's entertainment. This is the Lux Radio Theatre broadcast of April 17, 1944, starring Alan Ladd, Dorothy Lamour and Chester Morris, adapted from the 20th Century Fox film Coney Island. The first half of the story is presented here, with the characters' rivalries and early business dealings in focus.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
