What happens

Two nuns, Sister Margaret and Sister Scholastica, arrive in a small New England town from France, intending to build a children's hospital as a promise made to God after a wartime rescue. They seek help from the townspeople and from Bob Mason, a local man who enjoys the quiet of the countryside. Margaret asks him to consider the land and funds they need, while the sisters pursue their plan with determined faith. This is an episode of the Lux Radio Theatre, first broadcast on March 24, 1952, starring Loretta Young and Lew Ayres.

A small New England town in the countryside, in winter and spring.

Characters: Sister Margaret, Sister Scholastica, Bob Mason, Luigi Rossi, Amelia Potts, Anthony

Listen for: The sisters' appeals for land and money, and Bob Mason's responses to their request.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
