What happens
Professor Adam Belinski, a Polish-born scholar, arrives in a small English village and takes lodgings in the home of the Carmichael family, where he meets Cluny Brown, the niece who works as their maid. Her unconventional behavior and independent spirit clash with the stiff manners of the household and the village. The Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the 1947 film Cluny Brown, broadcast on January 27, 1947, stars Olivia de Havilland and Charles Boyer. The early scenes establish the characters and their circumstances in 1938 England, on the eve of war, as the newcomer and the young maid begin to draw close.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
