What happens

Anna Owens, a widowed English teacher, arrives in Bangkok with her young son Louis and her servant Beebee, expecting a house of her own as promised. Instead she is taken to the royal palace, where the King of Siam, a proud and stubborn man, is ruled by his own pride and by his court. Anna agrees to teach the king's wives and children, but she soon clashes with the king over her housing and over his rulings on law and custom. Her persistence keeps the story moving through the palace intrigues. This Lux Radio Theatre adaptation, starring Irene Dunne and Rex Harrison, was first broadcast on January 20, 1947.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
